Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade receives Metropolitan Antoniy
On April 29, the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade met with the chairman of the Foreign Inter-Church Relations Department of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill's vicar, Metropolitan Antoniy, who came to our country to participate in the Baku meeting of religious leaders to be held within the framework of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue.
Welcoming the guest, His Holiness Sheikh-Ul-Islam thanked Metropolitan Antony for accepting the invitation and agreeing to participate in the Forum, noting that the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, traditionally held under the auspices of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, is a serious platform for discussing pressing problems. He noted that within the framework of the Forum, events will be held in Baku and Shusha, organized by the CMB, religious leaders and well-known public figures representing more than 40 countries will discuss strengthening trust through interreligious dialogue, as well as other issues.
Noting that the relations between the CMB and the Russian Orthodox Church are based on beneficial cooperation and mutual trust, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade emphasized that His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia made a great contribution to the development of these relations. He highly appreciated the work done by Patriarch Kirill and his mediation mission to prevent the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, which lasted for about 30 years, from turning into a religious conflict. He asked the guest to convey his greetings and best wishes to his dear friend.
The chairman of the Department of foreign Inter-Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Antoniy, thanked for the invitation and sincere welcome, and stressed that he was pleased to convey Patriarch Kirill's greetings to His Holiness Sheikh-Ul-Islam. Wishing success to the work of the forum, the guest expressed confidence that useful discussions and positive results would be achieved.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for future cooperation between the two religious centers and other issues of mutual interest.
