Sheikh Ul-Islam Pashazade is an active supporter of the unity of all traditional madhhabs of Islam. On his personal initiative, the Council of Qadis was created under the Administration of Caucasian Muslims, reflecting the Shia-Sunni composition of Muslims in Azerbaijan. The decisions (fatwas) of this Council apply to both Shiites and Sunnis.
As the leader of the main Muslim community in Azerbaijan, he makes special efforts to promote inter-religious dialogue, tolerance and multiculturalism in Azerbaijani society and around the world.
Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Theology Allahshukur Pashazade is also known as the first historian of Islamic studies in Azerbaijan. In 1997, he established the Scientific and Religious Council under the Council of Muslims of the Caucasus.
